About Valley Auto Service
Valley Auto Service in Valley circa 1993
Three Generations. One Shop. A Lot Has Changed Since 1968.
Valley Auto Service has been part of this area since 1968. What started as a local repair shop serving the Valley area has continued through three generations of the Shoemaker family. In 1993, the shop moved to its current location on Highway 29 in West Point, Georgia.
The vehicles have changed. The tools have changed even more. But the reason we are here hasn't changed much at all.
Take care of people, do good work, and build a shop people can trust with their vehicles.
Today, Valley Auto Service is a third-generation, independently owned auto repair shop serving West Point and the surrounding communities.
Being Third Generation Means Something to Us
Being a third-generation shop isn't just a line we put on the website.
There is a responsibility that comes with taking over a business that was here long before you were. Customers remember bringing their first cars here. Some families have used Valley Auto Service for years, and now we are working on vehicles driven by the next generation of those same families.
We don't take that lightly.
At the same time, we don't believe being in business for a long time means doing things the way they were always done. Modern vehicles require modern equipment, good information, continued training, and technicians who know how to test a problem instead of guessing at it.
We want to respect where Valley Auto Service came from while continuing to build a better shop for where automotive repair is going.
Auto Repair Has Changed. So Have We.
A modern vehicle can have dozens of computers communicating with each other. A warning light, no-start, electrical problem, drivability issue, or even a simple-looking concern may require much more than replacing the first part associated with a trouble code.
That is why diagnostics and testing are a major part of what we do.
We use professional diagnostic equipment and repair information to work through problems logically. Sometimes the answer is straightforward. Other times, finding the actual failure takes more testing.
Either way, we'd rather understand what is happening before recommending a repair.
That same approach carries into regular maintenance, brakes, tires, air conditioning, electrical repairs, and the rest of the work that comes through our doors.

We Want You to Understand What Your Car Needs
Auto repair shouldn't feel like a mystery.
When we find something wrong, our job is to explain what we found, what we recommend, and why. There is a difference between a repair that needs attention now, maintenance that should be planned for, and something that simply needs to be watched.
We try to make that difference clear.
Not every vehicle needs everything at once, and not every problem can be diagnosed from a five-minute look in the parking lot. Good automotive service sometimes means taking the time to test the vehicle, gather information, and give the customer an answer based on what we actually found.

A Local Shop Built for the Long Term
Valley Auto Service isn't part of a national chain or a dealership group. We're an independent shop, and the decisions are made here in West Point.
That matters to us.
Our goal isn't to get one repair out of a customer. We want to be the shop you can use for years—the place that already knows your vehicle, has its history, and can help you decide what makes sense as it gets older.
We also want Valley Auto Service to be a place where good technicians want to work, learn, and build a career. Taking care of customers starts with building a good team behind the counter and in the shop.
The Next Generation of Valley Auto Service
We are proud of the history behind Valley Auto Service, but we're even more interested in what comes next.
That means continuing to invest in training, diagnostic capability, equipment, better shop processes, and the people who work here. We want to keep improving without losing the personal side of an independent repair shop.
Three generations got us here.
Our job is to take care of what was built before us and leave Valley Auto Service better for the generation that comes next.
